How does
it work?
By jet spraying very fine and sterilized sand-like particles
onto the skin surface, minor blemishes and scars can be minimized
without causing any noticeable injury to the skin. The suctioning
of the particles during the microdermabrasion procedure may also
stimulate the production of new collagen to form so that your
skin will also get healthier in the process. It will not eliminate
deep scars or scars with a sharp edge.
Microdermabrasion is an excellent starting point for any aesthetic
prcedure. It can be combined with the Cooltouch, Fotofacial or before
a chemical peel. Contact Dr. Pettit's Phoenix office to schedule a
visit.
What does it treat?
Acne scar, age spots, and skin blemishes are the prime targets for
this type of treatment.
How many sessions?
The usual number is 5 sessions spaced about a week apart. People with
deeper lesions may require more sessions to achieve the desired result.
Any discomfort?
Most people will not require any preparation for microdermabrasion.
For those who are unusually pain-sensitive or when deeper lesions are
treated, applying a topical anesthetic about an hour prior will eliminate
all discomfort.
Side effects:
You will note nothing more than some redness on the area lasting no
longer than a couple of hours.
