Luminescence opened its doors
in August 1999 as a comprehensive laser center. Initially we started
with just the lasers to treat spider veins and hair removal. Since
that time we have expanded to a comprehensive aesthetic medical center.
Although we have grown, we have never changed our philosophy. When
you schedule an appointment to see Dr. Pettit for his opinion, you
see him. When you arrive for your care, you will be treated by him.
His personal touch sets Luminescence above all other aesthetic centers.
He values your time and confidence
The next time you consider an aeshetic procedure, look at the door.
Is there a doctor listed? Who do you see? If the doctor is busy doing
other things or seeing other people do you really want to be treated
there? Give Dr. Pettit a call, you will receive the respect you deserve.
Dr. Pettit has been an active voice in
the discussion of indirect vs. direct supervision while perfoming
laser procedures. He has had the unfortunate opportunity of correcting
mistakes made by indirectly supervised, non medical trained personel
performing laser procedures.
Out of concern for medical safety of the public
Dr. Pettit has chosen to support the following organizations in
their fight to require direct medical supervision of all laser
procedures. The following are all excerpts of letters written to
the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency.
ArMA - Arizona Medical Association
“ The Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) opposes our
new defenition of “indirect supervision” as presented
in your proposed Administrative Rules package governing radiographic
equipment.
We are, however, supportive of the “direct
supervision” defenition in your initial rider proposal
and believe its application will both benefit te public and
clarify the issues of use of intense-pulsed light devices
and lasers...”
David Landrith, Vice President
Policy and Political Affairs
Arizona State Board of Medical Examiners
“It is our belief that as a presecriptive
device, the use and/or treatment of a patient with an intense
pulsed light and/or laser device should be performed only
by prescription of a physician duly licensed to practice
medicine in Arizona, unless the physician delegates these
functions to trained individuals that perform these tasks
under “direct supervision” of the prescribing
physician....”
Patrick N. Connel, M.D.
Chairman
Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in
Medicine and Surgery
“The Board opposes your agency’s new defenition
of “indirect supervision” as presented in your
proposed Administrative Rules package governing radiographic
equipment.
The Board does support our defenition
of “direct supervision” that was in you initial
rules proposal. The board feels that this would provide
better protection for the public relating to the use of
lasers and intense-pulsed light devices. ...”
